History

Warwick Business School (WBS) at the University of Warwick has become one of the world’s most elite business schools the provides top programmes in innovation, creativity and change and has been providing business education for over 40 years.  The business school is constantly innovating, creating new partnerships with organizations and bringing fresh perspectives to the classroom.  They have a vision to be the leading university-based business school in Europe and provide academic excellence while making an impact on society. WBS’s Behavioural Science Group provides new insights on management issues and focuses on the interaction between the natural science and social science approaches to understanding behaviour.  The group draws methods from psychology, economics, philosophy, math and statistics to give an interdisciplinary approach to their research.  Some examples of questions explored by the group are:

  • Are people rational?
  • What principles govern human behaviour?
  • How do culture and institutional factors interact with individual behaviour?

Courses

The Warwick MBA is offered in a full-time and distance learning format. The Full-time MBA Programme teaches students the foundations of key management areas and offers specialisation opportunities.  It is divided into seven core modules and students choose five electives.  Also, a consultancy project is included to draw together newly learned knowledge.  The seven core modules are:

  • Accounting and Financial Management
  • Business: Politics, Society and Behaviour
  • Managing in a New World
  • Marketing
  • Operations Management
  • Organisational Behaviour
  • Strategic Thinking:  double module

The curriculum is comprised of international travel study trips, in-depth work with real companies, innovative assessments through individual presentations and real-life company pitches and a creative thinking boot camp.

The Distance-learning MBA Programme uses online interaction, virtual classroom environments, online resources, multimedia e-learning and online assessment tests to deliver course materials.  One compulsory face-to-face five-day module is included at a range of different locations.  Warwick Week occurs twice a year and last for five and three days.  The week is comprised of lectures, case studies, group work, exam practice, networking and social events and career and study skills sessions.  Additionally, students are given a subject tudor that will support them with any questions they may have in each module.

The Executive MBA Programme is part-time and is based around providing relative material, having a convenient and flexible schedule and providing executives with a collaborative environment.  The programme last three years long is split up into seven core modules covering the areas of:

  • Accounting & Financial Management
  • Economics of the Business Environment
  • Marketing
  • Modelling & Analysis for Management
  • Operations Management
  • Organisational Behaviour
  • Strategic Advantage

Students also choose six different electives and participate in consultancy project.  To increase students exposure to different international learning opportunities, students attend at least one module at a non-UK venue.  At the start of the programme, a compulsory pre-module weekend welcomes students.  Also, online learning is integrated throughout the programme to make classroom materials easily accessible to students at any moment.  Students are sent a study-pack four weeks before each module and then spend a total of five days at WBS participating in lectures, working with syndicate groups and preparing group assignments.
