Conceived by London & Partners, UBM, Tech London Advocates, and ExCeL London, the inaugural London Technology Week in 2014 garnered attention as Europe's largest gathering of tech events, featuring over 200 events and attracting more than 40,000 delegates. Notably, tech entrepreneurs joined prominent figures like Boris Johnson and Michael Bloomberg in Central Working, marking the event's inception as a collaborative platform for industry leaders.

In subsequent years, London Tech Week continued to grow, with 2016 witnessing key moments such as the Digital Minister Ed Vaizey's first Instagram post at the official launch and Baroness Oona King advocating for greater diversity in tech. The event highlighted London's prominence in the global digital community, welcoming international delegates and speakers from regions such as the Nordics, China, and Africa. The launch of Tech London Advocates chapters in Australia and New Zealand and the TLA Austin Chapter further emphasized the event's expanding global footprint.

As London Tech Week progressed, it attracted prominent speakers such as Ronan Harris (MD Google UK & Ireland), Sir Martin Sorrell (CEO WPP), Kristo Kaarman (CEO TransferWise), and Nicholas Cary (Co-Founder Blockchain.com) in 2017. The event also witnessed innovations introduced by global events provider KNect365, including VR exhibits and wearable tech, underscoring its commitment to embracing cutting-edge technologies.

In response to global changes, London Tech Week adapted to a virtual format in 2020, ensuring global accessibility. The event continued to cover a broad spectrum of tech-related topics, focusing on health, education, business transformation, the future of work, diversity, and inclusion. Notable speakers such as former Google CEO Eric Schmidt and Digital Secretary Oliver Dowden emphasized the event's continued relevance in shaping conversations around the evolving tech ecosystem.

In 2022, the event brought together a diverse community of 20,000 attendees, featured insights from 300 speakers, spanned five dynamic days, and hosted over 60 events. The event's reach extended significantly, with a social reach of 7 million and a staggering press reach of 3.8 billion, underscoring its influence and importance in the industry.

The support of influential tech leaders further elevates London Tech Week's significance. Notable figures such as Alex Mahon, CEO of Channel 4; Brent Hoberman CBE, Co-Founder and Executive Chair of Founders Forum Group; and Poppy Gustafsson OBE, CEO of Darktrace, among others, have endorsed and contributed to the event.
