Summary

Mr. Pradeep Multani is an Economics & Law Graduate from Delhi University and has more than 40 years of experience in the field of Ayurvedic & Unani Medicines sector. He has been the Chairman of an Eighty One year old multi-crore Ayurveda & Unani Company, Multani Pharmaceuticals Limited for more than 30 years. 

Mr. Multani is the President of Ayurveda industry association, known as AMAM, Association of Manufacturers of Ayurvedic Medicines. As a stalwart of the AYUSH (Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy) industry he is trying his best to promote the traditional systems of medicines across the world by addressing different seminars and sensitising various embassies and other international delegates, advocating on different issues on behalf of the Industry. 

Mr. Multani strongly believes that steps taken towards doubling farmer’s income, basic necessities for all, and right to basic education would be significant contributors towards the PM’s vision of building an Aatma Nirbhar Bharat (Self Reliant India).

Biography

Mr. Pradeep Multani comes from a family of physicians. His grandfather was born in Multan, a part of undivided India (currently a part of Pakistan) and established Multani Pharmaceuticals Limited in 1938 in Lahore (currently a part of Pakistan). The company moved to New Delhi in 1947, after the partition of the country. 

He schooled in Delhi at St. Xavier’s School, a convent. After that, he did his Honours in Economics from Hindu College, Delhi University. Later, he did his Bachelor’s in Law from Delhi University, and specialised in Labour Laws and Industrial Regulations.

He inherited Multani Pharmaceuticals Limited from his family after his education. The company is among the top 10 of the 9000 pharmaceutical companies in the country. With over 800 employees, the company has state-of-the-art manufacturing plants that are WHO/GMP certified and located in Delhi and Uttarakhand states of the country. The company also has a drug-testing laboratory to ensure that the quality of products is consumable for all. This laboratory is approved by the NABL Ministry of AYUSH. It also has a food testing laboratory, which is soon to be approved by FICCI. With the AYUSH premium mark for more than 300 products, the company has certifications for the outstanding quality of the products. 

Since most of these products are not approved as medicines in other countries of the world, they are sold as nutraceuticals (or nutritional supplements). Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India, has entered into an agreement with WHO for establishing the first traditional medicine center in the world in Gujarat. Under this agreement, about 25 different countries are accepting the ayurvedic system of medicine as an approved and acknowledge system of medicine.

Mr. Multani became the President of PHD Chambers of Commerce, in India to create international bridges for business, trade, and commerce. He is also the President of AMAM, the Association of Manufacturers of Ayurvedic Medicines.

Being an experienced business professional, he believes in giving back to society with a wealth of knowledge and learning. As the President of PHD Chambers, he said:

Mr. Multani was a guest on one of the episodes of the Dinis Guarda YouTube Podcast. He told Dinis:

“The PHD Chambers of Commerce works with the government to achieve the goals and targets set for the nation. We bring out the pain points at the ground level to the knowledge of the government, and suggest strategies to solve them. We are here committed to nation-building.”


Recognition and Awards
Mr. Pradeep Multani is the President of the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry, India. He oversees the decision-making process of this National Apex Chamber working at the grass-root level and with strong national and international linkages.The Chamber acts as a catalyst in the promotion of industry, trade and entrepreneurship. PHD Chamber, through its research-based policy advocacy role, positively impacts the economic growth and development of the nation. PHD Chamber is more than an organisation of the business community, as it lives by the chosen motto In Communities Life & Part of It and contributes significantly to socio-economic development and capacity building in several fields. PHD Chambers of Commerce, under his leadership has expanded to reach out to 150,000 companies, including some of the giants in the field, like DLF, JK Tyres, Kajaria, Kent RO Systems, Dabur, Multani, Hamdard. Besides, Small and Medium enterprises are also a part of the Chambers. “MSMEs (Micro Small and Medium Enterprises) provide that maximum employment. They are contributing roughly 50% to our national exports. But these need a lot of hand holding. We, as a chamber, provide active support to these enterprises to take up the issues and challenges with the government and help them grow.”
