Threefold

ThreeFold is a neutral, peer-to-peer network of storage and compute capacity, the largest of its kind in the world. It is the foundation and backbone of the new internet. More than 40,000,000 GB and 15,000 CPU cores are live today on the ThreeFold Grid, across 21+ countries. To ThreeFold’s knowledge, this is more than all other blockchain projects combined.

Some early ThreeFold developers have been on a journey together with Incubaid over the past two decades, building parts of the cloud we use today and achieving more than 500 million USD in exits. After many years in the industry, they realised that a new internet architecture was needed to bring positive change to our world. So, they set the foundation for what would later become the ThreeFold Movement.

About half of the world’s population remains unconnected to the Internet, creating huge inequalities in access to information and knowledge. Additionally, the Internet is becoming fragmented, as governments around the globe are restricting access within their countries, or creating their own Internets in an effort to control and compartmentalise. The ThreeFold Network offers a solution to these challenges. By deploying a distributed grid of nodes, remote regions can now be reached in a natural progression. Being decentralised by nature and leveraging self-healing technologies, the ThreeFold Grid cannot be restricted or sectioned off. This leads to a substantial increase in efficiency, access, and affordability. The ThreeFold Network will also sponsor the deployment of capacity to remote regions through it’s conscious capacity initiative.

The vision of ThreeFold is to be an Internet that empowers equality, freedom, and sustainability. · Equality: 50% of the world does not have access to the Internet, yet it is a human right. ThreeFold is building an Internet inclusive to all, across geographical & cultural borders. Its grid of capacity is distributed and does not require centralised / power-hungry data centers. · Freedom: People are not digitally independent; they don’t own their own data. To tackle that, they are building an Internet where everyone owns their own data just like they own their physical experiences. · Sustainability: Today’s Internet is responsible for +5% of global energy consumption, that is why ThreeFold is building an Internet optimised on energy-efficiency & carbon reduction for a healthy planet.
