Seth Godin is an author, blogger, and podcaster.
Summary

Seth Godin is an American author, blogger, podcaster, and former dot com business executive. Mary Kuntz described him in Business Week as “the ultimate entrepreneur for the Information Age”. 

During his career, he has written over 18 books, some of which were on various best-seller lists: Free Prize Inside was a Forbes Business Book of the Year in 2004. He is widely regarded to be one of the most effective and knowledgable marketing executives to currently exist.

Biography

Early life 

Godin was born in New York and went to Tufts University. He graduated in computer Science and philosophy in 1979. Later on, he studied for a Masters in Business Administration at the Stanford Graduate School of Business. The first job of Godin was being a brand manager at Spinnaker Software. Business ventures Some of his various creative projects include squidoo.com, a fast-growing, easy to use website, and the running of a six-month alternative MBA program. 

In December 2008, Godin announced that he would be offering a six-month alternative MBA program at his office in Hastings on Hudson, NY 340 applied and he invited 27 applicants to his office for a group interview. The selection procedures were very experimental as the group interviewed one another. After co-mingling, in collaboration with Godin, they selected 9 candidates to pursue the MBA. This group graduated in July 2009. In 2013, Godin launched a series of four books via Kickstarter. The campaign reached its objective in three hours. 

His latest book “The Icarus Deception”, is a manifest on how to be more creative and artistic in whatever you do. Seth’s main argument is that whether one is painting a picture or serving lunch in a diner, writing a book or writing marketing copy, anything can be taken as art and anyone can be an artist. His also runs a popular blog and a podcast. 

In fact, Seth Godin’s blog was named by Time among its 25 best blogs of 2009. Seth Godin’s podcast started on 14 February 2018 and is named Akimbo. Episode 1 of the podcast is entitled The Grand Opening and subtitled “Hype, hoopla and the bally”.


Vision

In one of his books, Godin shared his vision in regard to how achievements are constituted. He said: 

“Discomfort brings engagement and change. Discomfort means you're doing something that others were unlikely to do, because they're hiding out in the comfortable zone. When your uncomfortable actions lead to success, the organization rewards you and brings you back for more.”


Recognition and Awards
Godin is the author of over 18 books. Free Prize Inside was a Forbes Business Book of the Year in 2004, while Purple Cow sold over 150,000 copies in more than 23 print runs in its first two years. The Dip was a Business Week and New York Times bestseller; Business Week also named Linchpin among its “20 of the best books by the most influential thinkers in business” on November 13, 2015. In the early 1990s, he curated a 10-book series for children titled Worlds of Power. Each of the book’s plots is based on a video game. Godin was inducted into the American Marketing Association’s Marketing Hall of Fame in 2018.
