Olivia holds an MSc in Philosophy from the University of Edinburgh, a concentration in AI Ethics with a special focus on probability and moral responsibility in autonomous cars, as well as a BA in Philosophy and Entrepreneurship from Baylor University.

Currently, Olivia works as the Chief Executive Officer of Ethical Intelligence where she leads a remote team of over thirty experts in the Tech Ethics field. She sits on the Advisory Board of Tech Scotland Advocates and actively contributes to the development of AI Ethics in business through keynote speaking and thought pieces.

She oversees the company’s mission to create and empower human-centric technology by making ethics accessible and affordable for all. Ethical Intelligence specialises in working with tech startups and SMEs (small/medium enterprises) by focusing on training humans in a company’s equation on the methods necessary to identify and mitigate ethical risk. In addition to training, they conduct ethics diagnostic reports, analyses, and advisory board reviews. EI ensures quality, holistic work, which we carry out with the help of the EI Expert Network, a growing network of specialists in the tech ethics space coming together from a variety of cultures and disciplines.

Biography

Originally from Silicon Valley, Olivia began her career working in digital marketing for tech startups. Following her graduation from the Honors College of Baylor University with a BA in Philosophy and Entrepreneurship, Olivia moved overseas to pursue the opportunity to expand her international network as a GDPR and data privacy researcher in Brussels. This experience prompted her to return to academia to obtain her MSc in Philosophy, concentration in AI Ethics, at the University of Edinburgh. 

During her time in Scotland, Olivia co-founded the Beneficial AI Society and completed her dissertation with distinction on the effects of probability on the moral responsibility of autonomous cars. During the final months of her degree, Olivia founded Ethical Intelligence, an ethics consultancy specialising in emerging technology, and launched the company with its initial three clients: Franklin Templeton, the IoT Department of the University of Edinburgh, and the Data for Children Collaborative with UNICEF.

She sits on the Advisory Board of Tech Scotland Advocates and actively contributes to the development of AI Ethics in business through keynote speaking and thought pieces.
