History

Kelley School of Business, Indiana University, has prepared students to lead organisations, develop companies from the ground up and shape business knowledge and policies for over 90 years. Kelley provides an innovative, rich learning environment that provides students with a plethora of opportunities for both their education and their careers.  The business school is in a constant state of evolving and refining their curriculum to get the best results from their education. Kelley provides students with an integrated teaching curriculum that gives them the essential business skills needed as well as frequent chances to use and apply them. Innovative programmes such as the Kelley Consulting Network or Investment Banking Network make this possible.  Also, a culture of collaboration and international business thinking is encouraged between classmates and colleagues. Kelley School of Business was founded in 1920 and their faculty members are internationally recognised for their teaching and thought leadership in the business community.  The business school has over 95,000 alumni who have all lived by the idea that “no matter how successful you become, keep working harder and smarter to achieve more”.  The mission of the business school is to transform lives, organisations and society through business education and research.  This is accomplished through the unique, collaborative approach that is focused on developing and maintaing valuable relationship amongst the faculty, students, alumni and corporate partners.


Courses

The MBA Programme is offered in a full-time, part-time (evening) and online format.  The full-time programme is two years long and has a collaborative approach and innovative residential programme that allows students to tailor the educational experience to their interests.  The programme is based around the three pillars of leadership, global opportunities and teamwork and is hosted at the Bloomington campus. During the programme, students learn the basic business fundamentals through an intense, 15-week semester that covers the areas of:

  • Critical Thinking
  • Economic Foundations
  • Finance
  • Financial Accounting
  • Marketing
  • Operations Strategy
  • Quantitative Analysis for Business Decisions
  • Strategic Management

Students then choose one of Kelley’s industry focused Academies that give them career experience on real-world cases and consulting projects.  After that, they choose a major and minor to focus on their particular concentration, and may also take a certification programme or add a joint-degree alongside their MBA.

The Evening MBA is delivered through a hybrid format of online and on campus, is part-time and hosted at the Indianapolis campus.  The programme can take anywhere from two to three years to complete and students choose one of six different specialized degrees, including a general administration degree.

The Executive MBA Programme offers a comprehensive curriculum that is customised to the needs of executives through collaborations with international partner schools.  The curriculum is designed to provided participants with a strong foundation of skills needed to be successful in their careers and is based off of seven, central themes:

  1. Developing a global perspective on managing.
  2. Leading business innovation and entrepreneurship.
  3. Managing the global allocation of resources and employee performance.
  4. Developing and managing strategic alignment and business processes.
  5. Creating capabilities for global business leadership.
  6. Leadership development.
  7. Experiential learning.

The learning platform of the programme combines face-to-face classroom experiences with advanced collaborative technology like online course materials.  It spans over 16 to 24 months and consists of 16-20 courses for a total of 45 credit hours.  There is also a two-week residency at Indian University in Bloomington or at the Washington Campus in Washington, D.C.
