Joel Dietz is a cyber futurist author and entrepreneur who has been at the forefront of several future tech trends including blockchain, tokenization, AR/VR and AI art. Joel Dietz was a founding member of Ethereum, founded the popular Metamask wallet. Joel achievements include being the most cited author on Google Scholar on “cryptoeconomics,” put together the largest deal in the asset tokenization space, worked with the P2P Foundation and alternative economics experts on the first land-backed stablecoin. Joel Dietz has worked on an advisory basis for organisations like the Institute for the Future, BTG Pactual, Microsoft, American Express, Walmart, and Intel. Joel is the author of the forthcoming book “Principles of Holonic System Design.”
Joel Dietz is a cryptocurrency entrepreneur, artist, and software architect based out of Dubai, UAE . He is well known for his work and contribution on cryptoeconomics and blockchain as the former Founder and President of Swarm; one of the founding contributors to Ethereum; MetaMask, the first smart contract educational channel; and the first academic work on cryptoeconomics.
Joel Dietz holds academic degrees from Brown University and the University of Pennsylvania. He has also studied at Harvard University, Hebrew University, Arcadia University, Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich, and the Harbin Institute of Technology.
Joel Dietz is the former Founder and President of Swarm, which has produced several products, including Swarm Syndicates and Swarm Fund, the blockchain for private equity. Swarm Fund is a fully decentralized capital marketplace that democratizes investing by using the power of the blockchain to open up high-return, alternative investment classes to smaller investors through asset-backed funds using cryptocurrency tokens. It makes traditionally exclusive investment opportunities, such as private equity and hedge funds, inclusive for the swarm or general public by pooling together smaller investments into larger, institutional-sized blocks. Dietz was one of the founding contributors to Ethereum.
Joel co-founded the first smart contract educational channel (EtherCasts), the Ethereum Silicon Valley meetup, wrote the original “AppCoin Manifesto,” and built the first decentralized asset and governance platforms on the Bitcoin blockchain. Joel facilitated the “LoveNest” blockchain-community living space in Palo Alto and has presented on topics including Decentralized Autonomous Society, DAO Democracy, Futarchy, and Delegative Democracy.
Joel Dietz previously developed the first blockchain voting systems to connect real world organizations with blockchain voting systems, developed the first real asset tokenization platform, conducted the first ICO and worked extensively on integration points between swarm intelligence and blockchains.
Outside the blockchain and cryptoeconomics space, Joel Dietz also holds awards from Google and Salesforce from his work as a software architect and developer from before he entered the blockchain space. Dietz has also worked as an artist independently and for Sundancer Studios in Berlin). At Sundancer Studios he focused on fine art photography, poetry, and essays. He developed insights into classical hatha yoga and meditation, with particularly detailed explanations of ‘pranic’ practices drawn from his own academic study of classical texts. Dietz also conducted research into esoteric elements in the classical tradition, especially the untranslated work of Giorgio Colli and the Neoplatonic concept of the intellect.
His research interests focus on the confluence of blockchain network topologies and swarm intelligence, especially how the principles undergirding decentralized organizations can be used to fuel global innovation. He also works on holonic philosophy, the evolution of jurisprudence, data-driven approaches to innovation, and smart city data architecture.
