Hirander Misra’s initial interest was in stock markets and finance from an early age given his father become active in the UK stock markets during the UK privatisation boom of the 1980s. Likewise, his favourite subjects at school were both history and economics and so he decided to combine them with the degree he chose at LSE. He did his undergraduate degree in Bsc. Economics specialising in Economic History from the London School of Economics (LSE) graduating in 1995 and then did an MSc. Business Systems Analysis and Design part-time at City University between 1998-2000 for which he was awarded a distinction.
When he graduated and then joined Reuters in 1996 I realised that the employees on the business side did not understand technology and that the technology staff did not understand the business. This lead to that eureka moment for him as he realised that technology moving forward would increasingly enable new business opportunities and that those who knew both aspects would be at a distinct advantage.
“This in reality has played out and continues to play out and since I combined these facets, I have never looked back as I can think top down and bottom up very quickly to spot opportunities in the Fintech space,” he said in a recent interview.
Hirander Misra is currently active as entrepreneur and adviser in the following companies:
