Columbia Business School (CBS) is the business school of Columbia University, a private research university in New York City

History

Uris Hall, constructed in 1960, is located in the center of Columbia’s Morningside Heights campus and has served as it’s sector of business operations for years.  It is the pinnacle of Columbia’s campus and has recently been renovated.  In 2010, alumnus Henry Kravis, founder of Kohlberg Kravis Roberts, pledged $100 million to fund the expansion of the campus.  A new site will be constructed in the Manhattanville sector of New York City that will serve as an extension of the business school. At CBS, students become members of the business school’s 40,000 alumni and are provided career guidance throughout their education.  A Career Management Center helps guide students down career paths and personalize their educational experience.  Over 100 student clubs and organizations exist in areas such as careers, professionalism, community service, and athletics.  The club experience creates leadership opportunities that will help students develop valuable business skills later on in life. CBS prides themselves on providing students with the “essential knowledge” needed for success. They state:

“At Columbia Business School, you are part of a community of more than just fellow students. Faculty and staff members are here to ensure your journey is smooth, practical, and suited to your needs. Our Office of Student Affairs gives you access to support and advice and helps guide you through everything from choosing the right courses to managing financial aid and graduation requirements.”

Columbia also provides a global business environment with students from nearly 100 nations and backgrounds in every different business sector.  The school is located in a premier financial and business capital of the world, New York City, and work in partnership with top multinational companies to offer students their resources and knowledge. The CBS MBA gives students an education that disrupts old way of thinking, creates new opportunities, and helps them to become innovative leaders.  They are constantly forced into collaboration with other classmates, side-by-side work with leading scholars and faculty, and challenged with a curriculum of real-world applications.  The educational experience is designed to change your business practices and ways of thinking forever.
