History

The University of Chicago Booth School of Business produces ideas and leaders that shape the world of business. They have a discipline-based approach to business education that focuses on developing confidence, effectiveness, and leadership. Since 1898, the university have produced ideas and leaders that shape the business world.  They have a rigorous curriculum in discipline-based business education with a goal to transform students into confident, effective, respected leaders in the business world.  Booth has:

The business school’s flagship campus is located in the Hyde Park neighborhood of Chicago on the main campus of the university.  The business school also has additional campuses in London and Singapore, as well as in downtown Chicago on the Magnificent Mile.  Alongside conducting graduate business programs, the school conducts research in the fields of finance, economics, quantitative marketing, and accounting. Chicago Booth presents students with complex business problems in the areas of economics, statistics, behavioural sciences, and other fundamentals.  The educational program consists of case-studies, guest lecturers, team projects, and lab projects that let students work on real-world business problems. Students are also educated on valuable business theories that shape practices.  They offer a complete range of full-time and part-time MBA degrees, open-enrollment seminars covering over 30 topics, and customised corporate tailored education directed towards progressing students’ companies and careers.


Courses

The Full-time MBA Programme focuses on analyzing problems, generating key insights, and implementing creative solutions. The program has a flexible curriculum of experiential learning techniques that help strengthen students connection between theory and practice. The program emphasizes discussion within the classroom so students take an active role of uncovering innovative facts and ideas. Their is also an international programme offered that ranges from a few weeks to a full term abroad. The curriculum consists of 20 classes plus a Leadership Effectivness and Development (LEAD) Course. Four major components make up the curriculum: Foundation courses that develop analytic tools and a strong knowledge base; functions, management, and business environment courses; electives that cover 14 different concentrations, and the LEAD program, one of the first experiential leadership development programs designed to enhances students’ self-awareness and interpersonal effectiveness through working in teams, influencing others, and learning skills in conflict management and presentation skills.

The Executive MBA Programme is offered in Chicago, London, or Singapore and is based on the culture of challenging assumptions, analyzing everything, thinking critically, acting decisively, and leading with confidence.

The curriculum is based around Chicago Booth professors’ real-world experiences as consultants, expert witnesses, board members, and investment fund managers.  Students learn how to assess risks, approach clients, think strategically, and make better decisions.  The programme also consists of an environment of collaboration and classroom discussion; students meet with colleagues from three campuses, multiple industries, and many different job functions to create a broadened business perspective. The 21-month long programme is built around the areas of management foundations, business functions, electives, business environments, and LEAD.  It consists of 17 different courses in a pre-selected format and three to five elective courses.  The programme begins with joint sessions for all Chicago students, then London students, and finally Singapore students.  In the next four quarters, students take electives with all other Chicago students.  Finally, the last two quarters consist of convocations with all Chicago students.

The Executive Education Programme combines the very best in conceptual knowledge and academic theory with real-world applications.  Programs are offered at the Chicago and London campuses in the areas of:

  • Strategy
  • General Management
  • Leadership
  • Finance (Chicago only)

The programme teaches students business practices from the newest concepts before they hit the marketplace.  Leading thinkers who respect and demand students’ contributions teach the courses.  Each class is available for open-enrollment
