History

Alba Graduate Business School operates one of the leading graduate institutions in Europe under the auspices of the Federation of Greek Industries, the leading employers’ union of Greece.  The business school has a general focus on European projects management and implementation and innovation of the enterprise. Founded in 1992, Alba accredits themselves on the quality of the school and faculty, their global reputation, the diversity of the student body, the curriculum of case studies, field consulting projects and simulations, their “team-centric and service oriented philosophy”, and their international outlook and exposure.  The business school’s mission is to:

The business school offers a portfolio of MBA and business related MSc programs as well as an Executive MBA and Executive Development courses and has a base of 37,000 alumni who are active in thousands of businesses and organizations in Greece and abroad.  They also has a faculty of resident and visiting professors from other business schools such as London Business School, INSEAD, Harvard Business School, Wharton, The Stern School of Business (NYU), and more.


Courses

The Full-time MBA Program at Alba starts in September and lasts 1-4 years.  Participants who wish to attend the program full-time will finish in a one year; students who attend the part-time program can finish in either two or four years. The program has three different areas of focus:

  1. Leadership development:  Through personal coaching and classroom experiences, students become more aware of their strengths and weaknesses in leadership and address them head on to plan for the future.
  2. Entrepreneurship:  It is one of the flagship programs of Alba Graduate Business School and has consistently produced excellent representations in the European Business plan of the Year Competition.  The program is four months long and students spend the time developing a business plan for a unique start-up company.
  3. Holistic perspectives:  Programs like “Psychoanalyzing Organizations” and “The business Integration Simulation Game”  broaden students’ perspective on the business as a whole.

The Executive MBA Program is designed for senior executives who aspire to transform themselves, their organization, and their society as a whole.  It’s a custom tailored program where executives part-take in forums with world-class professors with a goal to develop critical reasoning and strategic leadership competencies that can be applied in the workplace.

The target audience is senior executives who lead their companies and are experienced in a single area.  Here are some highlights of the program: Mindful leadership:  coaching sessions, simulation games and actives, and interactive courses let students participate and transform their ways of looking at different business perspectives. Program structure:  The modular structure is based around four themes:

  1. Business Values and Challenges
  2. Business Fundamentals
  3. Development of Personal and Organization Capabilities
  4. Leadership (of the Organization)into the Future

Business Architecture Project:  students integrate acquired knowledge across all areas of business and create an innovative business plan. The two-year program is four days per month and classes meet on Fridays and Saturdays.  Alba Graduate Business School also offers MBA programs in Banking and in Shipping. Alba Graduate Business School offers a vast array of Executive Education Programs in the form of open-enrollment programs, company specific seminars, customized management programs, leadership development programs and entrepreneurship and family business programs.

The Leadership Development Program is designed for executives who hold leadership positions.  The program empowers them to learn management competencies and leadership skills. The program begins with participants examining and addressing their weaknesses; they are then placed into small groups where they prepare short presentations on key leadership issues. Students then have one-on-one meetings with an executive coach to design their program direction and schedule.
