Tuck Business School at Dartmouth was founded in 1900 as the first graduate school of management and recognised as one of the leading business schools in the world. The business school offers one degree, the Full-time MBA, and promotes all of it’s resources to make the MBA experience as valuable, collaborative and useful as possible. The business school offers a residential experience that includes team work and relationship building activities and serves as the core of Tuck’s teaching methodology. The Full-time MBA Programme is delivered in a small student body format through lively classroom environments and offers a vast array of activities and learning methods designed to engage students and give them the ultimate learning experience. The programme is a year long and broken up into four semesters, each lasting two to three months. A number of different unique programmes and requirements are embedded within the MBA curriculum. The Ethics and Social Responsibility requirement must be fulfilled by taking one elective course offered in areas such as Social Marketing, Business Strategies for Sustainability or Ethics in Action. The First-Year Project is required to help students learn project management skills, apply knowledge acquired in the first year to real-life business situations and fulfill the individualised needs of students. The Global Consultancy Programme offers a field study course, giving students the chance to work with outside companies and NGOs to complete on-site consulting projects in small teams. Additionally, these core courses must be completed: Analysis for General Managers Capital Markets Competitive and Corporate Strategy Corporate Finance Decision Science Financial Measurement, Analysis and Reporting Global Economics for Managers Leading Individuals and Teams Leading Organisations Management Communication Managerial Economics Marketing Operations Management Personal Leadership Statistics for Managers The curriculum also offers more than 100 elective courses to choose from integrated with Research-to-Practice Seminars that are designed to advance the critical thinking skills of students. The small seminars give students insight on research performed by the faculty and teaches them to be intellectually skeptical and test ideas against both theory and data. Leadership Development is also an integral part of the curriculum as a result of the school’s focus on individuals, interpersonal relationships and productive collaboration. This is achieved through a required Personal Leadership course where students self-assess themselves and gain valuable insight on their leadership abilities.
