It can be very instructive to understand the psychology behind your staff morale. It helps generate the work that your business is proud of, after all. A job can either be done poorly or thoroughly. Your staff mood will dictate this to a large extent. We’ve all felt that urge when starting a new job to do the best work we can possibly do. When we become familiar with the firm, and if the daily tasks are the same, it can be easy to let things slide. However, there are ways to optimize this. The first and best place to look is of course how achievable and realistic the work you are setting is. Overburdening staff is never good. Nobody enjoys working in an overly humid atmosphere. This can be due to a lack of ventilation, and in the summer months this is unbearable. Even automated fans simply spread the scent of overheated employee from one side of the room to another. You need to ensure your business has adequate ventilation, windows that open or can be opened, and if possible, air filters. This will allow the room a fresh, breathable quality. When this is working right, no one will notice the air quality, and that’s the goal.
Ample Break Room
You may have the coolest office in the entire industrial district. It might look beautiful aesthetically, and gift employees the best internal feng shui that would make Lao Tzu himself proud. However, if your employees have limited space to retire away from their desks, they’ll often vocalise it. Eating at desks can happen, but the smells of microwaved lunches are something you really do not want permeating the aura of your room. Make sure to afford appropriate space for lunch eating, of course permit ample time for people to eat lunch outside of the building from a cafe. Provide amenities like fresh water coolers and coffee, maybe even cheap sustaining foods like oatmeal.
For smokers, or simply those who wish to refresh their mindset after a hectic working hour, allow for decent space outside of your business for employees to congregate. Separate the smoking area. Aluminum canopies are usually the best implements to install in this case, because they allow for a stylish design while also preventing your outdoor area from being dysfunctional in the rain or snow.
A Common Theme
It can be worthwhile to have a common theme. This comes through many areas. It could be the team slogans you have artfully sprayed onto the walls, much like Facebook and the mural they first created. You might have an office fish tank in which all fish have names and act as a popular talking point. It could be as silly and simple as an office teddy bear. Whatever allows your entire team to discuss and feel connected to collectively works well, and it unifies the continuation of your branding.
